Abstract

1478850 Resilient floors CONTIWOOD (DURABELLA) Ltd 23 May 1975 [24 Feb 1974] 40218/73 Heading E1B A resilient floor assembly comprises a plurality of foam back battens to be laid directly on a structural floor, a layer of softwood plywood 10 supported on said battens, and a second layer of artificial wood 15 supported on said first layer. The second layer is preferably chipboard sheets and a covering layer of vinyl sheet or tiles may be provided. Each batten comprises a hardboard strip with a polyurethane foam strip bonded thereto. The foam strip has a plurality of recesses in its rear face to increase ventilation. The plywood sheets are stapled to the battens and the chipboard sheets stapled to the plywood. In an alternative construction plywood strips are laid across the battens at right angles thereto and a layer of tongued and grooved chipboard panels laid thereover and mechanically fixed to the battens followed by vinyl sheets with their long axes at right angles to the chipboard panels, joints in the vinyl sheets being hot welded.
