Abstract

1478212 Zeolite-pellets LENINGRAD TEKNOLOGICHE INST KHOLODIL PROMYSHLEN 7 Jan 1975 569/75 Heading C1A Zeolite pellets are prepared by mixing zeolite powder, preferably of the A or X type, of particle size not exceeding 5 microns with a naturally occurring inorganic binder, e.g. kaolin or hydromica in a plastic state, of particle size 250-500 Š and thence wetting the resultant mixture and forming pellets which are calcined at 600-700‹ C. The wet pellets, prior to calcining are preferably dried to a residual moisture content of 20-25 per cent by weight. To improve their activity the pellets may, after calcining, be leached with a 1-10 per cent by weight caustic soda, sodium carbonate or sodium silicate aqueous solution at 75-95‹ C washed with water to pH6-8 and recalcined at 350-450‹ C. The pellets can be cation exchanged with Ca, K or Ag ions by treatment, after calcining, with 1 to 1À5 N aqueous CaCl 2 KCl or AgNO 3 solution followed by water washing to pH6-8 and recalcining at 350- 450‹ C.
