Abstract
1477904 Water cooled cable KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 11 Oct 1974 [20 Oct 1973] 44167/74 Heading H1A [Also in Division H2] A water-cooled heavy-current connection cable comprises a single inner tube 1 of neoprene stranded conductors 2 disposed around it, an outer tube 3 of rubber with textile fabric reinforcement and a cable lug 5, which may be a solid forging, at each end of the cable, each cable lug carrying a cable lug inner tube 7 to which the conductors 2 are clamped by non- magnetic bands 14. The surface of the tube 7 is provided with corrugation by turning or milling, to increase friction. Coolant pipes 11 may be brazed or soldered in apertures 16 of tube 7. Flexible guide tube 6, which is soldered to the threaded sleeve 8, has a cover 15 soldered into one end to restrict the coolant flow in tube 1 to that necessary to stabilize tube 1. The interior of the lug 5 may be filled with soft solder. The outer tube 3 is fastened to the cable lug 5 by non-magnetic fasteners 4.
