Abstract

1477218 Toys PROFEX AG 29 Aug 1974 [31 Aug 1973] 37871/74 Heading A6S [Also in Divisions El and F2] Intersecting bars 1, 2 of resilient, e.g. plastics, material are joined to form frames for shelving, storage racks, stands, enclosures, or for use as toy construction kits, by forming at least one of the bars with a profile such that it has a maximum width at an intermediate location, forming a corresponding transverse groove in the other bar of a depth such that the mouth of the groove is less than the maximum width and the groove widens slightly below this to accommodate the maximum width portion of the first bar, and forcing the bars into snap-fitting engagement, as shown, with the first bar engaged in the groove of the other bar. Preferably the bars are of similar section, each being of either polygonal, elliptical or circular section. Each bar is preferably hollow and may comprise outer and inner cylinders 11, 12, the latter providing at its ends sockets for spigots (17, Fig. 5, not shown) interconnecting bar sections. The two cylinders are connected by ribs 15, 16. A metal reinforcement 19 may be incorporated.
