Abstract

1477052 Supports for converters FRIED KRUPP GmbH 26 July 1974 [28 July 1973] 33201/74 Heading F4B A converter or other metallurgical vessel is supported in a trunnion ring by a first group of supports lying in the plane of the axis of the vessel and of the trunnions, comprising pivoted connections and, when the vessel is vertical, transferring only the weight component of the load, and a second group of connectors transferring the tipping moment part of the load. A lug 7 on the side of the trunnion ring 2 opposite the drive mechanism is pivoted between two brackets 8 secured to the vessel and a link arm 9 is pivoted between brackets 13 on the vessel and between brackets 11 on the drive side of the trunnion ring 2. Abutments 14, 15 and 16, 17 on the vessel co-operate with lugs 7 and 18 above and below the trunnion ring opposite the drive side, Fig. 2, and abutments 19, 20 co-operate with the brackets 11 at the drive side, Fig. 4, to transfer lateral thrusts. The abutments 14-17 on the trunnion ring to transfer the tipping moments may be replaced by cables 25 each surrounding one half of the converter, Fig. 6, and secured to abutments 30 on the trunnion ring.
