Abstract

1476510 Vesicular polyester resins E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 30 July 1974 33670/74 Heading C3P Vesicular granules of cured polyester resin are obtained by forming a water-in-oil-in-water emulsion from an oil phase of an ethylenically unsaturated polyester resin and an ethylenically unsaturated water-immiscible monomer and an aqueous phase wherein the conditions are such that polymerization is effected substantially immediately on formation of the emulsion before agglomeration of the dispersed oil phase occurs. This may be effected by using sufficient initiator to ensure instantaneous polymerization but preferably the aqueous phase is at a sufficiently high temperature to ensure immediate polymerization.
