1476049 Bubble blowing toys J E LAFATA and J D CUCCIO 19 Dec 1975 52060/75 Heading A6S A bubble blowing toy comprises a container having a base portion formed with at least one exit hole, the container constituting a reservoir for bubble-producing liquid, a hollow stem with an open end being connected to the base portion and in communication with the exit hole, ports extending through the wall of the hollow stem so that films of the liquid form across the ports. When the toy is moved through the air, either by being swung in the hand or twirled on the end of a string, the films of liquid across the ports are turned into bubbles. In one form, a partspherical container 11, Figs. 2, 3, has exit holes 21 feeding bubble-producing liquid 22 into a hollow stem 12. Ports 13 through the stem 12 become covered with films F of the bubble-producing liquid 22. A closure cap 31 removably fitted to a neck 30 of the container 11 is fast with a cord 14. When the toy is swung through the air by use of the cord 14, the films F of liquid across the ports 13 are formed into bubbles. The open end 25 of the hollow stem 12 may be closed by a dripcollecting closure 36 containing a layer of sponge rubber 37 and carrying an ornamental propeller 38. The container 11 may alternatively be of cylindrical shape, Fig. 4 (not shown). When not in use, the toy may rest in a bottle-shaped stand 40, Fig. 5. When the toy is withdrawn from the strand 40, its neck 42 assists in forming films F across the ports 13. In another construction, a hollow stem 55, Figs. 6, 7, may be turned back-andforth within a neck 53 depending from a container 51. Ports 64, 65, 66 through the upper part of the neck 53 as shown feed bubble-producing liquid 70 from within the container into the hollow stem via end notches 76, 77, 78 in the latter. On turning the hollow stem 55, the ports 64, 65, 66 are closed by the inner end of the hollow stem. Flow of liquid through the ports 64, &c is thus stopped. The toy in this form is used in the hand by swinging it to-and-fro to make bubbles.
