Abstract

1475182 Sub-aqueous, non floating storage tanks DUNLOP LTD 3 Feb 1975 [9 Feb 1974] 6031/74 Heading E1H A sub-aqueous, non floating storage tank and marine terminal comprises an oil container 13 which is divided into an upper space 20a and a lower space 20b for respectively holding oil and sea water by a fluid tight buoyant platform 20 and flexible skirt 19. The lower space 20b communicates with the ambient water via ports 15 and oil is charged or discharged via an opening 14a. The platform and skirt are made from a woven nylon fabric coated on both sides with elastomeric composition and the platform 20 comprises a plurality of sleeves made from this fabric and filled with slabs of polyethylene foam. The skirt consists of lengths of fabric joined together along their longitudinal edges.
