Abstract

147,507. Sheffler, I. L. Jan. 20, 1919, [Convention date]. Carpet - sweepers. - In a vacuum-cleaner having a power-driven brush within the suction nozzle, the brush is driven through gearing within an enclosed chamber at the end of the nozzle, a yielding clutch being interposed. As shown, a gear-wheel F is loosely mounted on the brush shaft and is driven by a worm G actuated through a suitablyhoused flexible shaft connected with the shaft of the motor and fan. A spring disk I<1> is mounted on the brush shaft and bears against the gear F. The. motor thus continues in operation should the brush E be entangled and stopped.
