Abstract

1475063 Joining by moulding AIRFIX INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 June 1974 [22 March 1973] 14017/73 Heading B5A In a method of making an article by forming an injection moulding on a flexible blank 1, the blank is deformed to a predetermined bow before moulding whereby upon shrinkage of the moulding the blank will bow in the direction of the imposed bow. The bowing is produced by corresponding shaping of the mould walls and the invention is stated to prevent buckling of the side panels and haphazard distortion of the lip. The article may be a tray or like container with injection moulded corner seams 6 and a peripheral lip 8. The blank 1 may be of card, paper, plastics material or metal.
