1474808 Conveyor chains AMERICAN CHAIN & CABLE CO Inc 11 July 1974 [12 July 1973] 30730/74 Heading B7L [Also in Division F2] A conveyor chain for a power and free conveyor comprising pairs of upper and lower links 27 interconnected by centre links 25, at least some of the lower links having pusher dogs 37, is characterized in that the upper, lower and centre links have elongated openings 29 and are connected by pins 31 having heads 33 enlarged transversely of the links whereby the pins may be assembled and dis-assembled with the links by relative rotation of the parts and without the use of any tools. The centre links 25 have enlarged ends 25a and the upper and lower links have recesses 34 in the vicinity of the openings 29 to receive the heads 33 whereby the links are held together securely. The openings 38 in the lower links carrying the pusher dogs are smaller than the length L1 of the pin heads, the length L1 in turn being smaller than the length L2 of the openings 29 in the upper links and remaining lower links. To disengage the pin from its links, the link 25 is moved inwardly and rotated through 90 degrees so that the upper and lower links may be pushed inwards against the narrower middle portion of link 25 to free the heads 33 from recesses 34. The heads 33 pass freely through openings 29 but must be tilted to pass through openings 38. In plan view, the openings 38 are rounded at one end 30 and squared off at the other end, Fig. 8 (not shown). The openings in the centre links may be extended longitudinally to form a single elongated opening extending over the major portion of the length.
