Abstract

1472647 Heat treating footwear SALIENT ENG Ltd 30 Oct 1975 [3 Sept 1974] 38340/74 Heading A3B Apparatus for heat treating footwear comprises an oven and a conveyor belt 2 (which moves in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the drawing) for carrying footwear through the oven, the oven being equipped with at least one catalytic gas heater panel 3 arranged for directing heat downwardly onto footwear carried by the conveyor belt, a thermostatically controlled gas inlet control valve 6 and a blower 7. Air leaving the blower 7 passes over the panel 3 and is directed towards the footwear on the conveyor belt. It then passes through ports 10 into ducting 8 whereby it is returned to the blower 7 where it is mixed with fresh air and then recycled. After leaving the oven the footwear may be cooled by an air curtain provided by an array of overhead orifices supplied with cooled air from either the blower 7 or an independent fan.
