Posts and columns. -Sheet metal d is secured upon aeroplane wings and other like structures by first stretching the sheet upon or around the structure, then securing it in such position by suitable means, and, finally, further tensioning it by fillets e forced into grooves or depressions in the structure. The fillets are formed of wood, light alloy, &c. and are forced in by bolts f, screws, &c., preferably so as to be flush with the outer surface. The sheet may be of any width and may entirely surround the wing frame, fore and aft. The means adopted for fastening the material prior to the final tensioning may be of a temporary character. The Provisional Specification states also that, in lieu of fillets, the structure mav be made movable, or have a movable attachment whereby the whole structure may be slightly expanded after the sheet metal has been secured in position.
