Abstract

1471883 Pneumatic tyres DUNLOP Ltd 10 May 1974 [15 May 1973] 23193/73 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre comprises sidewalls reinforced with substantially radial cords, e.g. of steel, textile, or glass, and a surface of each, sidewall is corrugated such that the crests 9 lie in substantially radial planes. As illustrated the external surface of each sidewall is corrugated with p = 2a (the ratio p/a preferably lies in the range 2À5 to 1À5), and a= approximately 55% of t (it is preferred that a is > than 70% of t). The tread rubber has a hardness of 65 Shore A and resilience of 50%, the sidewall rubber 8 has a hardness of 55 Shore A and resilient of 80-90%, the bead rubber has a hardness of 80 Shore A and resilience of 65%, and the rubber of the liner 7 has a hardness of 55 Shore A and resilience of 80%. The tyre is of the kind described in Specification No. 1,408,567. The corrugations are sinusoidal in section, although each corrugation in section may be triangular, square, or semicircular. The beads may have toes extensions 10 disclosed more fully in Specification No. 1,395,714.
