Abstract

1471006 Isolating albumin from blood NEW ZEALAND INVENTIONS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY 11 July 1974 [11 July 1973] 30863/74 Heading C3H A process for the preparation of blood albumin comprises separating by means of an anion exchange resin capable of adsorbing blood albumin fractions an albumin-containing fraction of blood proteins from blood serum or plasma, adding to a solution of said albumin containing fraction of blood proteins an agent capable of stabilizing the albumin therein against heat denaturation, subjecting the resultant solution of blood proteins to heat denaturation, and separating blood albumin from the resultant product. The anionic exchange resin may comprise exchange groups selected from amino, alkylamino, guanidino and quaternary ammonium groups, e.g. diethylaminoethyl cellulose. The stabilizing agent may be acetyl tryptophan, a medium chain fatty acid or a salt of a medium-chain fatty acid.
