Abstract

1470154 Crystalline dialkylaminoalkyl esters of penicillin DR ANDREU SA 4 July 1975 [12 July 1974] 28330/75 Heading C2C Novel crystalline dialkylaminoalkyl esters of a penicillin of the formula wherein R may be H, C 1-4 alkyl, OH, OCH 3 , or OC 2 H 5 ; R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl group ; n is 0 or 1; and r is from 1 to 10, may be obtained by reacting an alkali salt of penicillin in an anhydrous medium with an alkyl ester of chloroformic acid, decomposing the mixed anhydride formed by treating with a N,N-disubstituted amino alcohol, and crystallizing the product. Particular examples are crystalline benzyl penicillin diisopropylamino ethyl ester and crystalline methicillin diethylamino ethyl ester. Pharmaceutical compositions useful for the treatment of mastitis comprise an above novel compound together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent or medium.
