Abstract

1469293 Controlling vehicles BAR PRODUCTIONS (BROMSGROVE) Ltd 7 March 1975 [26 March 1974 18 Dec 1974] 13266/74 Heading B7H [Also in Divisions E2 and A4] A storage assembly comprising movable storage units 2 arranged in a row and movable to provide a gangway 3 between two adjacent units, each unit carrying a trip bar 15 movable towards the unit on encountering an obstacle to actuate a switch 18 for stopping the unit, the bar being mounted by links 16 pivoted between the bar and unit to form a folding parallelogram linkage C. Each unit has a base provided with rail wheels 4 and ground wheels 13 drivable by a motor 6 and a support 11 at opposite sides. The links are mounted on the supports by connectors 20, which also mount switches 18, comprising upper and lower plates 22, 21 connected by clamping screws so as to be adjustable along the length of the supports 11. A vertically adjustable pin 23 pivots each link to the connector and a spring 7 urges each link against a stop 30 on a lower plate 21 thus holding the trip bar away from its support 11, the bar and support being in different planes. A lever 19 on the bar actuates switch 18 as the bar moves towards the support. The vertical height of the bar may be adjusted through the positioning of pin 23. In another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) the trip bar extends above and below the support 11 and is mounted by parallel upper and lower links (16<SP>11</SP>,16<SP>1</SP>) on pin 23, the links extending above and below the plates 21, 22 of the connectors. The trip bar may extend along the length of a unit side or several co-linear bars may be provided at the unit side.
