Abstract
1468756 Carcass reinforcements for pneumatic tyres PNEUMATIQUES CAOUTCHOUC MANUFACTURE ET PLASTIQUES KLEBER-COLOMBES 23 May 1974 [23 May 1973] 23195/74 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre is reinforced by two carcass plies each of which extends from a bead region into the tread region. The plies may overlap in the tread region (Figs. 4/6) to form a tread reinforcement, or edges of the plies may be axially spaced, with a separate tread reinforcement 12 overlapping the spaced ply edges. Each carcass ply is formed from a single cable or a small number of cables with the or each cable being arranged such that a portion extends from the bead region to an apex at the radially outer edge of the ply and returns to the bead region. The portion may form a loop (Fig. 2) or a substantially U configuration (Fig. 5). The cable(s) in each bead region reinforce the bead so that the conventional bead wire may be omitted. The tyre of Fig. 5 may also include a conventional tread reinforcing belt.
