Abstract
1468374 Pyrimidines WELLCOME FOUNDATION Ltd 6 March 1974 10105/74 Heading C2C 2,4 - Diamino - 5 - (3,4,5 - trimethoxybenzyl)- pyrimidine is prepared by condensing 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde with a dialkyl malonate, hydrogenating the resulting dialkyl 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzlidenemalonate, condensing the trimethoxybenzylmalonate obtained with urea to afford 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzylbarbituric acid, chlorinating the latter, subjecting the resulting 2,4,6 - trichloro - 5 - (3,4,5 - trimethoxybenzyl)- pyrimidine to selective amination and reducing the resulting 2,4-diamino-6-chloropyrimidine derivative to remove the remaining chlorine atom.
