Abstract
1468298 Etching: etching apparatus BUCKBEE-MEARS CO 20 Sept 1974 [11 July 1974] 40988/74 Heading BJ In a method of etching an aperture in a web 9, a first resist layer 42 defining an unprotected region X 1 is provided on one surface of the web, a second resist layer 44 defining a larger unprotected region X 2 is provided on the second surface of the web, the web is etched to provide dished regions (as shown), the resist layer 42 is then covered with a further resist layer 43 covering the region X 1 and the second surface of the web is further etched to provide an opening extending through the material of the web. The resist may be a polymeric plastics material. Etching apparatus.-A shadow mask for a colour television tube is produced by the above method in a continuously operating apparatus comprising a first spray etching chamber 11, a spray rinsing chamber 12, a drying chamber 13 having heaters 23 and 24, a spray coating chamber 14 (for providing resist layer 43), drying chamber 15 and further spray etching chamber 16.
