Abstract

1467722 Coating with epoxy resin compositions SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 17 April 1974 16789/74 Heading C3B Articles are coated by application of a liquid mixture, in a volatile aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, containing a diglycidyl ester of hexahydrophthalic acid, as curing agent a mixture of hexahydrophthalic anhydride and polymeric azelaic acid polyanhydride in a wt. ratio of 80 : 20 to 20 : 80 so as to provide 0À8-1À6 anhydride equivalents per epoxy equivalent. As accelerator there is employed 0À5-3À0% by wt. (based on the total of epoxy resin plus curing agent) of either an amino compound or a stannous salt of a carboxylic acid. Exemplified accelerators are 1-methylimidazole and benzyldimethylamine. The coating may be cured at 100-220‹ C.
