Abstract

1466515 Evaporating volatiles from a poly mer latex PARKSON CORP 24 July 1975 [16 Aug 1974] 31058/75 Heading B1B [Also in Division C3] Volatiles are stripped from a shear- and heat-sensitive latex polymer mixture by contacting with steam at 115-180‹F and 1.5-7.5 psia. in a contactor (shown as 13 in the Fig.) which has a length to diameter ratio of at least 20:1, and has at least one bend 18, 19 of at least 45‹, and separating the latex from steam and volatiles at at least 0.5 p.s.i. lower than the pressure specified above, in a separator 22. A second stripping stage may be added. Introduction of the latex is effected via the annular groove 17 of injecting fid 12.
