Abstract

1465622 Making collapsed cartons STOLMAR CORP 11 April 197 4 [13 April 1973 25 March 1974] 16178/74 Heading B5D An apparatus for producing collapsed cartons from blanks having bottom panels 60, 62, 64, 66, side panels 52, 54, 56, 58 and flaps 76, 78 in a pair of bottom panels, comprises co-operating rollers 28, (30) Fig. 1 (not shown), for advancing the blank towards oscillating flippers 34 which fold the bottom panels 60, 62, 64, 66 over on to the associated side panels 52, 54, 56, 58, and stationary ploughs 36 which fold the flaps 76, 78 on to the remaining portions of the associated bottom panels as the latter are being folded over, an arrangement (not shown), for folding side and bottom panels 52, 58, 60, 66 on to the side and bottom panels 54, 56, 62, 64, and applicators for applying adhesive to the blank so that the folded flaps 76, 78 are adhered to adjacent bottom panels. The lateral positions of the flippers 34 and the ploughs 36 are adjustable. An applicator (96) Fig. 6a (not shown), applies adhesive to a glue flap 98 for connecting the side panels 52, 58. Each flipper 34 comprises a roller 86 mounted between two arms 84 mounted on an oscillating shaft 32. Further rollers 88 are mounted between the arms 84 on the shaft 32.
