Abstract

1464611 Rotary furnaces METAUX PRECIEUX SA 22 May 1974 [24 May 1973] 22800/74 Heading F4B A calcining furnace for materials containing precious metals comprises an enclosure 2 with heating means (not shown) and a rotary drum 21 mounted on a movable carriage 13. The drum can be withdrawn from the enclosure through the hole 10 and removed from the fastening member 19 and replaced by a new drum ready for a further charge. Furnace charges 7 pass into the drum along the pipe 6 through a passageway that can be closed by the door 8. The drum is rotated by the shaft 18 which is driven by a device in the body 16. Compressed air is supplied through a retractable pipe 26. Furnace gases escape through the hole 23 to the pipe 3 which can be fitted with a filter. When calcination is complete and the drum is withdrawn, the door 11 is closed to retain heat while a new drum is prepared.
