1463440 1 - Dimethylcarbamyl - 3 - branched alkyl - 1,2,4 - triazol - 5 - yl - (N - substituted) sulphonamides GULF OIL CORP 2 Oct 1975 [10 Oct 1974] 40237/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I in which R<SP>1</SP> is a secondary or tertiary alkyl group or cycloalkyl group having 3 to 4 carbon atoms, R<SP>2</SP> is hydrogen or a methyl group, R<SP>3</SP> is a methyl group, R<SP>4</SP> is hydrogen or an alkyl having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl group of 3 to 4 carbon atoms. R<SP>5</SP> is an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a cycloalkyl group of 3 or 4 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, or, R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> together with the amine nitrogen represent an azido group, or a divalent radical which with the amine nitrogen atom forms a ring structure of from 3 to 6 members, said divalent radical being selected from They may be prepared from the corresponding 3 - branched alkyl - 4H - 1,2,4 - triazol - 5 - yl- (N-substituted) sulphonamide by reaction with dimethylcarbamyl chloride or with methyl isocyanate. The compounds of Formula I are used in insecticidal compositions. The starting materials may be prepared by reacting thiosemicarbazide with an acid chloride to give a 3-branched alkyl-4H-1,2,4-triazolin-5-thione, followed by reaction with chlorine and water to give a 3-branched alkyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-5-yl sulphonyl chloride. The latter is then reacted with an amine to give a 3-branched alkyl-4H- 1,2,4-triazol-5-yl-(N-substituted)sulphonamide.
