Abstract

1463315 Stacking HENRY SIMON Ltd 19 June 1974 [23 June 1973] 30910/73 Heading B8C A method of stacking articles comprises forming a layer of an article or articles on a support 11, raising the support to above the height of a stack being formed on a surface 14, advancing the support and layer over the surface, and then retracting the support while restraining the layer by means of a stop 16 so that the layer falls on to the stack, and wherein the stop 16 is lifted before advance of the support and is then lowered and advanced against the rear end of the layer to locate it against a stop 21 before retraction of the support. Articles are manually arranged on a ball deck 10 at the edge of the support 11 which comprises rollers drivable by a belt 20 and mounted on a platform. The platform is mounted for vertical movement on chains 13C and carries a pneumatic ram to advance the support. A photo-electric cell senses the height of the stack and controls the raising of the platform. The articles may be stacked on a pallet located on a roller conveyer forming the surface 14.
