Abstract

1463362 Friction-grip fastener R B EMERY 18 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 7636/74 Heading E2A A friction-grip fastener for a cord has a body 1 with an aperture 4 between its ends, a block 2 for anchoring one end of a cord 3, and a nose 6 having a slot 7 therein. The aperture 4 has a 'V'-shaped groove 5 and the slot 7 has side walls which converge over part of its depth and then diverge towards its base, as shown in Fig. 3. In use the cord 3 is passed around an article to be secured and the free end of the cord is then threaded through the aperture 4 and laid across the slot 7. Pulling of the cord causes it to tighten around the article and also to be trapped in the slot 7.
