Abstract

1463002 TDM communication systems SIEMENS-ALBIS AG 29 Jan 1974 [29 March 1973] 04012/74 Heading H4M In a T.D.M. communications transmission system, digital bits from a data source are transmitted to a data receiving station using channels which at least temporarily are not being used for non-data communications transmission. At the transmitting end (Fig. 1) data bits DE arriving in each pulse frame from the data source are split into groups where maximum size corresponds to the number of bits which may be transmitted in each time slot. The groups (after serial parallel conversion if the arriving bit stream is in serial form) are intermediately stored in groups in data stores GS each temporarily assigned to an arbitrary one of those time channels which are not being used for non-data communications traffic. The bits are interposed into an available channel time slot (selected by unit ZAS which provides an output to open AND gates T1 and T2) by a pulse frame pulse train TAS applied via AND gate T2. At the receiving end (Fig. 2, not shown) the group of bits which has been transmitted is intermediately stored in a data store assigned to the relevant channel (by a further selector) and the groups of bits are passed on, within one pulse frame, via the data output of the system to the data receiving station.
