Abstract

1462866 Vibrating RUSSELL FINEX Ltd 29 May 1974 [18 June 1973] 28774/73 Heading F2X [Also in Divisions B1-B2] A vibratory sieving apparatus comprises a base 10, a frame 12 mounted on the base means 17 for oscillating the frame relative to the base, a grating 28 attached to the frame, a member 36 connected to the grating and ultrasonic means operable independently of the oscillating means and operating on the member to effect ultrasonic vibrations of the grating relative to the frame. The frame is supported on the base by means of mounting assemblies each of which comprises a rod 14 secured in resilient bushes 15, 16 fixed to brackets on the frame and base respectively. The frame is oscillated at not more than 10,000 vibrations per minute with an amplitude of 1/8 to 1 inch by an out-of-balance vibrator assembly 17. The grating is vibrated at 13,000 to 40,000 vibrations per second with an amplitude of 0À0005 to 0À001 inch by an ultrasonic transducer assembly 35 comprising a probe 36 attached to an electromechanical transducer and connected to the grating. The transducer assembly is mounted in a casing 37 through which cooling air is blown by a fan 42 via ducting 43 and a control box and generator unit 44 to which the transducer is connected by a lead 45. The combination of the low and high frequency vibrations caused respectively by the out-of-balance weight assembly and the ultrasonic probe creates bulk turbulence in the material being sieved and also prevents blocking of the grating.
