Abstract
1462718 Digoxin complexes INTERX RESEARCH CORP 27 June 1974 [29 June 1973] 28531/74 Heading C2U The invention comprises complexes of formula where D is digoxin, A is a dihydroxybenzene, and n is 1, 1¢ or 2; and their preparation by contacting D and A in a solvent (e.g. water) preferably in the absence of oxygen and presence of an antioxidant (e.g. sodium bisulphite) until the complex precipitates (with the aid of seeding if necessary). Purification of digoxin is effected by forming and isolating a complex as above, contacting the complex with a suitable solvent (e.g. water or diethyl ether) and isolating precipitated digoxin. Oral cardiotonic compositions comprise a complex as above and a carrier and optionally also a dihydroxybenzene or antinucleating agent.
