Abstract

1462252 Load cells CARL SCHENCK AG 17 May 1974 [30 June 1973] 22189/74 Heading G1N [Also in Division F2] In a load cell for measuring an applied force A Fig. 1 comprising resistance strain gauges 6 attached to an elastic member 1, the creep of the assembly is compensated by a disc 4 of spring material, located between the applied force and the upper surface of the member 1, whose characteristics are adjusted by:- (1) pre-stressing the disc by screws 5 in the lid 3, or (2) applying a layer of one or more different materials on one or both sides of the disc, or (3) using a thick disc 3a, Fig. 7, which may also act as the lid, and is provided with one or more cavities into which selected material 9 is cast. The various added materials may be chosen to compensate also for variations in creep with ambient temperature. In other embodiments the disc 4 is bonded to the lid 3 at selected points; the disc 4 is partially divided into segments by radial slots which can be pre-stressed individually by screws 5; the disc 4 is replaced by one or more pre-stressed leafsprings.
