Abstract

1461899 Disazo pigments based on anthraquinones or xanthones CIBA-GEIGY AG 22 July 1975 [23 July 1974] 30534/75 Heading C4P Novel yellow to red disazo pigments of the formula wherein R 1 is H, C 1-4 alkyl, phenyl-(C 1-4 alkyl) or optionally substituted aryl; R 2 is H, C 1-4 alkyl, CN, CONH 2 or C 2-4 alkanoylamino; R 3 is C 1-4 alkyl, C 2-6 alkoxycarbonyl or phenyl optionally halo-, or C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxysubstituted; Z is O or Z and R 1 together complete an optionally substituted benzimidazole ring; X, Y, X 2 and Y 2 are each H, halogen, CH 3 or NO 2 ; and V is O or CO, are prepared by coupling tetrazo compounds of diamines of the formula with pyridones of the formula They are used to pigment high M.W. organic material in the form of plastic compositions or melts, spinning solutions, lacquers or paints. Reference is made to a blue disazo pigment prepared from starting materials falling within the above formulae described in Specification 1,285,339.
