Abstract

1461770 Thermal switches BICC Ltd 14 May 1974 [15 May 1973] 23092/73 Heading H1N A fire detection cable comprises a heatresponsive element that is sensitive to mechanical damage and, surrounding it, an unlacquered braid comprising oriented olefin polymer strip. The heat-responsive element may be of the type having resilient conductors which are urged together and come into contact with one another upon melting of a fusible coating on at least one of them, e.g. that in Specification 1,461,769, or may be of the type that opencircuits on melting of an elongate conductor in the element. The polymer of the strip may be polypropylene. Examples of cable are given.
