Abstract

1460031 Cleaning underground passages INSITUFORM (PIPES & STRUCTURES) Ltd 21 Feb 1974 [9 March 1973] 11575/73 Heading F2N [Also in Division E1] Detritus is removed from a sewer 100 by directing a liquid jet from nozzle 136 at the detritus so that the latter becomes suspended in the liquid, and causing the suspension of detritus to pass upwardly through pipe 156 by directing a liquid jet from nozzle 148 upwardly into the lower end of pipe 156. Liquid from the sewer is pumped to a pump at ground level, which in turn delivers liquid to nozzle 136, Fig. 1 (not shown). Nozzle 136 may carry a clamp for engaging the sewer walls and operable by the pressurized liquid. At ground level the detritus and liquid are separated at 160, 166. The separated liquid is pumped at 126 to the nozzle 148. The position of nozzle 136 along the sewer may be adjusted by means of cable 134.
