1459774 Gain control of amplifiers SONY CORP 12 Dec 1973 10789/73 Divided out of 1459773 Heading H3T In a cascade amplifier comprising transistors Q1, Q2, Q3, gain is controlled by a voltage Vc applied to the base of Q1 to vary the forward bias of the base-collector junction of Q1 and thus its base-to-collector impedance. The sensitivity of the control may be varied by adding a resistor in series with the base circuit and increase of the impedance of Q3 and thus the noise rejection can be effected by adding R6. Other stages may be controlled via unit 6.
