Abstract

1459505 Urine collectors S I PERSSON 15 Feb 1974 [20 Feb 1973] 7052/74 Heading A4N [Also in Divisions B8 and F2] A disposable urine receptacle, e.g. for bed use, comprises a flexible bag 11, a non-return valve 17, and a holder 25, two sides of the bag being welded along lines 13 to form a funnel-shaped inlet 16 of similar form to the inner periphery of the holder and the non-return valve the outer surface of which has a frusto-conical or cylindrical shape being fitted into the inlet in liquid-tight engagement. The bag 11, which may be produced from a piece of plastics hose, is closed at one end 12 by welding, and has transverse joints 15. The non-return valve 17, comprises a float body 24 of density less than that of water, in a sleeve 18 with a perforated cover 19. The float may be of foam plastics. On the inside of the cover is a membrane 22 attached along a portion of its circumference 21 to the sleeve 18. The bottom 23 of the valve consists of three spokes extending inwardly from the sleeve 18 to a common junction. If urine from the bag runs up to the valve, the float rises so as to force the membrane 22 against the cover 19, so that the perforations 20 are closed. The bottom of holder 25 is surrounded by a collar 26 which has an extension 27 on one side. The collar 26 is intended to maintain the opening end 28 of the holder in a direction obliquely upwards when the receptacle is put aside, so that urine in the funnel-shaped inlet portion 16 cannot run out.
