Abstract

1458376 Taking up slack in flexible elements M B WILD & CO Ltd 26 March 1974 [13 April 1973] 17887/73 Heading B8B Apparatus for taking up slack in a power supply cable 10 connected to a fixed anchorage 13 and to a machine 11 reciprocable relative thereto along a beam 12, comprises a pulley 23 around which the cable 10 is looped, and which is mounted on a carriage 14 biased by a spring loaded element 17 to tension the loop cable 10. The element 17 is wound on a spring loaded reel 18 and connected to the carriage 14 movable along a beam 16 the pulley 23 being mounted on the carriage 14 by an axle extending generally perpendicular to the direction of carriage travel but slightly inclined to the horizontal. The legs of the cable loop are supported on rollers 22 in channels 20, 21 extending from both sides of the anchorage 13.
