Abstract
1458192 Centrifugal pumps SEALED MOTOR CONSTRUCTION CO Ltd 28 March 1974 [9 May 1973] 22234/73 Heading F1C A liquid circulating pump, e.g. for central heating installations, comprises a gas separation section 12, Fig. 1 and a pumping section 10. In use, liquid entering through inlet 24 or through a radial inlet (not shown) at location 27, flows upwardly along a divergent passage 26 where its speed is reduced to encourage gas separation, and then passes over two weirs 28, downwardly along two lateral passages (30), Fig. 2 (not shown), under two inverted weirs 32 and through a port 18 into the pumping section from where it is discharged through a tangential outlet 20 by an impeller (not shown), e.g. of the centrifugal type. Gases entrained with the inlet flow tend to separate from the liquid and collect in chamber 36 and are vented by automatic or manually actuable means 38. The two sections 10, 12 may be bolted together in different angular relationships to vary the angular location of outlet 20.
