Abstract

1457711 Hauling apparatus MAOHINENFABRIEK DEVENTER BV 16 April 1975 [19 April 1974] 15711/75 Heading B8B [Also in Division F2] Chain hauling apparatus comprises pairs of opposed pawls 10, and 17, relatively movable along a cruciform sectional guide passage 6 for the chain 7, and alternately operable to engage the chain to respectively haul and hold the chain. The pawls 17 are pivoted at 18 to a fixed frame 1, and have interengaging toothed sector links 27 to ensure synchronous motion under the control of an interconnecting hydraulic ram 20. The pawls 10 operated similarly to the pawls 17 are pivoted to a plate 26 hinged to a yoke 9 reciprocable along guides 8 extending parallel with and longitudinally along the chain guide passage 6, the reciprocation being effected by hydraulic rams 14. The rams 20, 19 controlling the pawl engagement with the chain, and the yoke rams 14, are operated in sequence such that as the pawls 10 engage a chain link, the holding pawls 17 are released from the chain and the rams 14 move the yoke 9 to haul the chain. At the end of the yoke stroke, the pawls 17 are applied to the chain to support it whilst the pawls 10 are withdrawn and the yoke rams retracted ready for the next hauling stroke. For a smoother hauling action, a plurality of yoke arrangements spaced along the chain may be operated in sequence.
