1457218 Textile bobbins JEAN COUTTY APPLICATIONS INDUSTRIELLES DES MATIERES PLASTIQUES SA 9 April 1975 [25 April 1974] 14570/75 Heading B8M A textile bobbin has a drum 4 and at least one yarn-arresting flange 1, the flange 1 comprising a flat base 1a and a tapered rim 1b, apertures 7 located partly in the base 1a and partly in the rim 1b and resilient tongues 8 integrally formed with a side of the apertures 7 and having wedges 9, such that when the bobbin is mounted on a winding machine and a certain amount of yarn is wound around the drum 4 of the bobbin it is moved towards one of the flanges 1 by means located on the winding machine such that it engages at least one of the tongues 8 the elasticity of which tongue 8 and the wedge 9 ensuring the wedging of the yarn between the rim 1b and a side of the tongue 8 facing the rim 1b. The base 1a is provided with lightening holes 6 and with an aperture 2 bordered by a wall 3. Radial ribs 5 connect the wall 3 to the base 1a and part of the rim 1b. In another embodiment the tongue 8<SP>1</SP> is formed with a foot 11 which extends beyond edges 5a of rib 5 by a distance d 1 and is deflected by a sleeve 12 on a spindle upon which the bobbin having the yarn package is mounted, the deflection ensuring the wedging of the yarn between the tongues 8<SP>1</SP> and the rim 1b. In yet another embodiment the periphery of the rim 1b comprises an edge (1c) and a foot 13 of the tongue (8<SP>11</SP>) extends beyond the edge 5<SP>1</SP> by a distance (d 2 ) and the bobbin, in use permits the wedging of the yarn between the tongue (8<SP>11</SP>) and the edge (1c), Figs. 7-9 (not shown). The bobbin is made of plastics material and can be made of any other material which is able to give the tongues sufficient elasticity.
