Abstract

1456310 Alumina granules INST KATALIZA and NI I KONSTRUKT-TEKHNOL OTDEL PO KATALIZATORAM 1 March 1974 9248/74 Heading C1A Granulated porous corundum is prepared having a homogeneous porous structure with a total pore volume of 0À3 to 1À0 cm.<SP>3</SP>/g. and a predominant pore size of from 5000 to 30,000 Š, by subjecting granules of active alumina or aluminium hydroxide having a porous structure with a total pore volume of 0À3 to 1À0 cm.<SP>3</SP>/g. and predominant pore size of 20 to 5000 Š to a heat treatment consisting of (1) raising the temperature from 20‹ to 700‹ C. in #0À5 hours, (2) heating within the range 700-1000‹ C. for at least 0À5 hour, and (3), heating within the range 1000-1400‹ C. for at least 0À5 hour, steps 1 and 2 being carried out in the presence of an atmosphere containing HF to the extent of 0À01- 2À0% of the alumina weight.
