Abstract
1456370 Attenuators DECCA Ltd 25 March 1974 [24 Jan 1973] 3693/73 Heading H1W A microwave attenuator comprising a length of planar transmission line has adjacent and parallel to the line a film which is substantially entirely resistive at the frequencies at which the line operates, and the transmission line has a conductive track on one face of an insulating substrate, the film being on the same face with the conductor passing over it. As shown, a substrate 1, e.g. of alumina, has the ground plane of the line on one face. The other face carries a resistive film 3, e.g. of chromium, and a strip 2 deposited over film 3. Film 3 is symmetrical with respect to the strip 2, has the shape of basally juxtaposed trapeziums or isosceles triangles, and is shaped to provide a required variation of attenuation with frequency.
