1456033 Phosphorus-containing triazole derivatives CIBA-GEIGY AG 7 Dec 1973 [8 Dec 1972 (2) 2 Nov 1973 (2)] 56902/73 Headings C2P and C2C The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein X is O or S, R 1 is H, C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl, optionally substituted phenyl, or an unsubstituted or nuclear-substituted benzyl or phenethyl group, R 2 is C 2 -C 12 - alkenyl or -alkynyl either of which may be halogen-substituted, a substituted phenyl group, a nuclear-substituted benzyl or phenethyl group, or an unsubstituted diphenylmethyl, #-naphthyl, #-naphthylmethyl or C 6 H 5 -CH(CH 3 )- group, R 3 is alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an amino group or a mono- or di(C 1 -C 12 ) alkylamino group and R 4 is C 1 -C 12 alkyl. The compounds may be obtained by reacting a hydroxy triazole of the general formula in the presence of an acid acceptor or in the form of a monovalent metal salt thereof with a compound Hal-P(X)(R 3 )(OR 4 ) wherein Hal is halogen or when R 3 is amino or mono- or dialkylamino (as defined) by reacting a monovalent metal salt of a compound (II) with a compound R 4 OP(X)Cl 2 and then reacting the resulting intermediate compound of the formula with ammonia or an appropriate mono- or dialkylamine. The products have pesticidal properties and may be used as active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions which may also contain other pesticides, various types of which are specified. Examples are given for the preparation of various hydroxytriazoles of Formula II by reacting the corresponding 1-substituted-3- hydroxy - 5 - mercapto - 1,2,4 - triazole with a halide (R 2 Hal) wherein Hal is Cl or Br or by reacting a 1-substituted-3-hydroxy-5-chloro- 1,2,4-triazole with an appropriate thiol (R 2 SH), several compounds prepared by these processes being specified.
