Abstract

1454863 Toy vehicles; toy helicopters GENERAL MILLS FUN GROUP Inc 14 Jan 1974 [20 Feb 1973] 01641/74 Heading A6S A toy, e.g. a toy motor car or a toy helicopter, is powered by an air turbine mounted on or in ,the body of the car, &c and the car, &c may be latched on a launching structure provided with an air pump having a nozzle directed to the turbine. As shown, a toy motor car 14 has a body 16 containing an air turbine 100 driving through a step-down ratio gear train 82, 88, &c to the front axle 21 and front ground-engaging wheels. The car can be latched to the inclined surface 12 of a launcher by bosses 56 on a pivoted plate 30. In the raised position of the plate 30 shown, the bosses 56 protrude through the inclined surface 12 into latch holes 72 beneath the front of the car. At the same time a nozzle 58 in the launcher is received in a hole 76 through the bottom of the car to direct air from an air pump 26 to the turbine 100. When sufficient air has been pumped to rotate the turbine 100 at the desired speed, a control plate 46 is pivoted down by operating control levers (50, 52), Figs. 1, 3 (not shown), at the sides of the inclined surface. The pivoted plate 30 is accordingly lowered to release the bosses 56 and the nozzle 58 from the car, which then moves off.
