Abstract

1454258 Smoke generating compositions DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 5 Sept 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 39215/72 Heading C1D A smoke generating composition comprises a particulate mixture or paste containing a highly chlorinated organic compound and a siliconaluminium alloy. The chlorinated organic compound may be hexachloroethane, hexachlorobenzene, pentachloronitrobenzene, tetrachlorophthalic anhydride, carbon tetrachloride, pentachloroethane, 1,1,2,2- or 1,1,1,2-tetrachloroethane, 1,1,2- or 1,1,1-trichloroethane, tetrachloroethylene, hexachloropropene, hexachloro - 1,3 - butadiene, or hexachloroacetone. Preferably the alloy is the 13% Si-87% Al eutectic alloy used as a fine powder. The composition may also contain zinc oxide, magnesium carbonate, calcium carbonate, kaolin, or kieselguhr.
