Abstract
1453555 Refrigerating freight containers STAL REFRIGERATION AB 20 May 1975 [20 May 1974] 21618/75 Heading F4H In an installation for refrigerating an assembly of freight containers 1, e.g. in a ship, the containers are connected to a common air cooler 3 by supply and return air conduits 6, 7 and a heater 10 is provided in the supply conduit to at least one container for heating the cooled air supplied thereto whereby the temperature within the container may be more easily controlled. As shown, in the return conduit from each container there is provided a resistive temperature sensor 9 which turns on a heating element 10 in the supply conduit for this container when the discharge air temperature falls to a predetermined level. A temperature sensor 8 downstream of the cooler 3 is operatively connected to a valve controlling flow of refrigerant through the cooler to prevent the temperature of air supplied to the containers from falling below a predetermined value. The containers may be arranged in a row of stacks 2 each stack being associated with a respective cooler 3 and the coolers being connected in a compression refrigeration circuit, the compressor being controlled by the sensors 8.
