Abstract

1453442 Wiring harness RISTS WIRES & CABLES Ltd 17 Jan 1974 [14 Feb 1973] 7170/73 Heading H2C A wiring harness comprises a flexible thermoplastic backing strip 11, fused to the thermoplastic sheaths of two sets of leads 12, 13 with conductive cores, the leads being electrically connected to the terminals of an electrical device 14, secured to the backing strip, the sheaths being fused to the backing strip at least adjacent said device. As shown, the device 14 is a moulded resin fuse box with cartridge fuses 15 and a hinged lid 16, and may include a thermoplastic component for heat fusion of the device to the backing strip. On terminal of each fuse is connected to a lead 12 whilst the other terminal is connected to a pair of leads 13. In modifications, the fuse box is replaced by a bulb holder with two terminals or by a switch. A method of manufacturing the harness is also described, an apparatus for the heat fusion of the relevant components being described in the pending British Specification 1,429,652.
