Abstract
1451442 Door hinges; doors G MOLYNEUX (PRODUCTS) Ltd 24 Sept 1973 [24 June 1972] 29713/72 Headings E1J and E2F Each of a pair of hinges used for mounting a door comprises two flaps 18, 20 pivoted together about an axis, with no overlap between the flaps in an axial direction, each flap comprising a plate-like portion 24 for engaging a door or frame and a thicker pivot-bearing portion 26 or 28, the distance between the shoulder 38, between the flat and thicker portions and adapted to engage the edge of a door, and the pivot axis being greater in one hinge of the pair than in the other. Thus the free edge of a door (10) is raised as it is opened, Fig. 4 (not shown). A hinge pin 22 having a part-spherical end may be held in one flap by being moulded therein and be received in a blind bore 32 in the other flap; or a free hinge pin can be received in blind bores in both flaps. A ball (35b), Fig. 8 (not shown) to aid pivoting, may be held in a blind bore by a lip (33b) or in a through bore by an adjusting screw. The length of the pin and the depth of the bore(s) is such that flaps forming a hinge do not bear on each other.
