Abstract

1450955 Vacuum cleaner dust bag CONSOLIDATED FOODS CORP 16 Oct 1973 48112/73 Heading BIT A self sealing disposable vacuum cleaner dust bag has an impervious panel 10 fixed to the mouth of the bag and having an opening 24 covered by an elastomeric sheet 26 which has a curvilinear slit 28 forming a tab 48 (Fig. 5 not shown) by cutting but not removing material, said tab having a geometric centre and the ends of the slit extending inwardly towards the said centre. The aperture formed may be elastically enlarged by entry of an air tube 42 without tearing the ends of the slit thus sealing around the air tube. As shown the panel comprises two flaps 14, 16 folded at 12 and has an aperture bridging piece 20 which piece 20 on inserting the air tube 42 breaks at 22 is pushed downstream through slit 28 in use but seals slit 28 on withdrawal of tube.
