Abstract

1450645 Anchor bolt ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc 13 Feb 1974 [14 Feb 1973] 6543/74 Heading F2H An anchor bolt comprises a shank 12, cam surfaces 16 on the shank extending from the shank end to a shoulder 26, a web 28 and a slot 20 separating the cam surfaces 16, and a wedge 14 having surfaces 44 sliding on the cam surfaces 16, the wedge having a tongue 18 engaging the slot 20. The tongue 18 may extend around the lower end of the shank and resiliently engages a slot 22 on the other side of the shank to hold the wedge in position on the shank. Alternatively (Fig. 10) the tongue may be held captive in slot 20 by projections 52. A resilient barb 38 is provided on the wedge and a recess 40 may be provided on the shank to partially receive the barb during insertion of the anchor bolt. The shank may be formed by forging or swaging and thus have a constant cross-sectional area along its length. The shank may have its upper end provided with a screw thread as shown or with a hole by means of which a workpiece can be attached.
